The Foodie: Crust and Cream


My friend told me about this place she'd been to for lunch recently and after seeing the pictures, I thought I'd go check it out. She also mentioned that at the time she went, there were a lot of IJGBs (I Just Got Backs...i.e, Nigerians who live outside the country and return for the holidays) and as such, so many different accents flying around the place. I typically am not the most social of people and that kinda put me off, but I decided to go at a time when it'll be empty, which is really early in the morning or late at night.

Crust and Cream is a Restaurant cum Bistro cum Pastry Shop located at 11, Musa Yar'adua street (off Kofo Abayomi), in Victoria Island. Thankfully, I had the place to myself and was seated in the most comfy area...with sofas, throw pillows and coffee tables reminiscent of your average sitting room.

For starters, I ordered Buffalo wings, which is pretty much your regular chicken wings covered in Buffalo sauce and served with a tomato sauce. I really enjoyed this, as it was served 10 minutes after I made my was piping hot and was quite tasty too.

I like Seafood so I was excited to see a Seafood Baked Pasta dish on the menu and quickly ordered this. Best news is, it arrived before I finished my wings, and was served with Garlic bread. These people understand me well abeg. If you're hungry and need to eat quickly, this is your spot guys. But, alas, the dish did nothing for my taste buds. It was just ok, not amazing or exciting in any way.

Seafood Baked Pasta - N4,000

Blueberry Cheesecake - N900

Quality/Taste/Culinary experience: The Buffalo wings were really good and I really really liked the Blueberry Cheesecake because it wasn't packed with sugar, like desserts normally are, but the Seafood baked Pasta..meh. I'm assuming Pasta is not their strong point, so I'll try another dish next time. I'll say 7/10.

Ambience/Atmosphere: I loved everything about this place. There's an outdoor eating area which I think is perfect for night time, regular sitting set up inside and my comfy sofas in a private area, also inside. Great atmosphere and clean environment too, but not formal enough for a proper dinner. Still a 9/10.

Service: This place has great service guys...the staff were polite, helpful and quick. I don't want to say it's 'cause they're new and still eager to please, so I'll wait a while and see. So far though, so very good...9.5/10.

Variety: The menu had a good many options too; From your classic breakfast spreads, to Pasta with Chicken or Seafood, Steak, Burgers. There's also a section where macaroons, cakes, ice-cream pops, chocolates, banana bread, carrot cakes a lot of other sweet things were sold. An easy 9/10.

Pricing/Affordability: In total, I paid N6,900. I think that's pretty affordable, seeing as my main meal was one of the most expensive on the menu, and I also had dessert. Without a starter or dessert, you can eat a good meal without spending more than N4,000. See how I amazing this place is? On Pricing, I'd rate Crust and Cream 9/10.

An average of 8.7 guys. Definitely worth a visit. Anyone been here, what's great to eat? Please tell!

  3. I would have loved to see the full menu and prices though
    I hate weird looking foods and all the mede mede, intercontinental bla bla so I might just have burger though
