Ok, scratch that. That's the mentality that has led me blindly down the rabbit hole of procrastination for so long and today I'm escaping from it.</div> <div style="text-align: justify;"> <br /></div> <div style="text-align: justify;"> So I want to share a story with you guys for 3 reasons; One, I try to keep my personal life private, but I find myself wanting to know more about the bloggers I follow...not because I'm nosey (maybe I am), but on some level, I feel like I know them after seeing so many pictures and reading what they write. I always wonder what they do when they aren't blogging and so I thought I'd share some more personal stuff with you guys. Two, I've made a ton of mistakes and learnt so many things in 27 years...if someone else is saved the embarrassment of making these same mistakes through hearing my experiences, then I'm fine. He took me out for lunch one weekend...we dropped my sister off at Silverbird and then we went to Prime Chinese in VI. It was my first real date...they brought the food with the sticks and I didn't know how to use them, so I kept staring at the food. I froze because I was sure I would embarrass myself and I would look stupid for not knowing how to use the chopsticks, so I just kept staring. Thinking about it now, I have no idea why looking stupid worried me, maybe because to me then he was the perfect "cool kid". I just didn't know how to be myself around him. Anyways, he got upset and asked that the waiter pack the food up and we left. By this time, it was raining heavily and VI was flooded to my knee. The car was so quiet for like 20 minutes, neither of us spoke. Then he found a place to park and started shouting at me. I started to explain, but his voice just kept climbing and I was starting to get worried. I didn't say another word and when he got tired of talking, he started the car again. Then he continued shouting. At this point, I just wanted to go home. He picked me from my house so I assumed we would pick my sister up from the movies and he'd take us back home. Because, this girl couldn't afford to take a taxi home. </div> <div style="text-align: justify;"> <br /></div> <div style="text-align: justify;"> Sidebar: never leave your house without vex money.</div> <div style="text-align: justify;"> <br /></div> <div style="text-align: justify;"> Anyways, by the time we got close to Sbird, you could literally hear him screaming at me from outside the car. The next thing I heard was "get out of my car". Remember, it has raining cats and dogs, it was so flooded that water was beginning to get into the car and as if that wasn't bad enough, I was wearing light wash jeans. Kai. I'm like, are you kidding? Get out to where? But he kept screaming and I had to do as he asked. The recharge card vendors and security men in front of the Sbird started begging him on my behalf "Oga, no vex. Abeg forgive Aunty no matter wetin she do. Abeg no disgrace am like dis". He just kept shouting. While I was trying to pack my stuff up, he threw N2,000 at me for a Taxi. At this point, I literally wanted the ground to open up and swallow me...but I got down and threw the money back at him. Pride. A hell of a thing, considering I didn't even have N100 at the time. But I knew I would rather walk to the mainland than take his money.</div> <div style="text-align: justify;"> <br /></div> <div style="text-align: justify;"> Fortunately, one of the people watching the whole thing was a friend of my sister's. She quickly put some money in my hands and asked me to go home. I went in to get my sister but guess who was there again? The same guy. Like, he actually parked his car and followed me in and continued shouting. I walked out on him and asked him to not call me ever.</div> <div style="text-align: justify;"> <br /></div> <div style="text-align: justify;"> Fast forward to about a month after, we were back together. Girls, we never learn sha. Was what I did normal or right? Nope. Did I deserve the way I was treated? I don't think so. Dude had a bad temper and this wasn't the first time it had shown itself. My friends had mentioned it to me on some occasions and I constantly walked on eggshells around him so as not to offend him...I couldn't handle that side of him. That day, if we weren't in a public place, I think he might have hit me. But yet I still went back to him.</div> <div style="text-align: justify;"> <br /></div> <div style="text-align: justify;"> I don't believe that a guy just hits his wife out of the blues in a marriage. She saw the signs, she just chose to ignore them because everybody else is in a relationship and is getting married, she can't be left out. </div> <div style="text-align: justify;"> <br /></div> <div style="text-align: justify;"> The learning points; Stop taking crap, you deserve better. People generally show you who they are, believe their actions and stop making excuses for their behaviour. When you go out with a guy, ALWAYS carry enough money with you for your food and to take you home. Better to not need the money than to need it and not have it. Be proud because you're beautiful, you work too hard to be tossed around and you deserve the very best.</div> <div style="text-align: justify;"> <br /></div> <div style="text-align: justify;"> Hope you were at least entertained by this :D</div> <div style="text-align: justify;"> <br /></div> <div style="text-align: justify;"> XXX</div> <div style="text-align: justify;"> <br /></div>

Lol.</div> <div style="text-align: justify;"> <br /></div> <div style="text-align: justify;"> I have been swamped with so much these days, I've barely had time to catch my breath. But the Lord remains my strength. I have so much non-blogging related stuff to share with you, but I'll leave it for another day when I'm less busy.</div> <div style="text-align: justify;"> <br /></div> <div style="text-align: justify;"> I have a thing for monotone outfits; they can be slimming especially if they're in dark/muted tones and they allow you focus on the outfit instead...structure, colour, fit and all, instead of distracting prints, colours or other elements. Traveling to Dubai? Here's what you need to know

<div style="text-align: justify;"> Hi Guys!</div> <div style="text-align: justify;"> <br /></div> <div style="text-align: justify;"> I've been to Dubai every year since 2013 (and yes, I'm already planning another trip for next year) and I think I've learnt a couple of things/tips to save money, have fun and generally make the best of my stay there. Or at least, that's what Liv of <a href="http://www.fashstyleliv.com/" target="_blank">Fash Style Liv</a> thinks, and that made her ask me to share with her. She actually suggested that I share same with you guys and I thought why not? I'm sorry it never crossed my mind, I didn't think anyone would find the information useful...but I'll do for that one person that finds something helpful in this. </div> <div style="text-align: justify;"> <br /></div> <div style="text-align: justify;"> P.S: Some of these tips apply to any other country you might want to visit.</div> <div style="text-align: justify;"> <br /></div> <div style="text-align: justify;"> So, if you're going to Dubai, I'd advise:</div> <div style="text-align: justify;"> <br /></div> <div style="text-align: justify;"> 1. <b>That you go in January if you can:</b> First off, I know that if you work in an organization like mine, taking your annual vacation in January is an unspoken taboo. The reasoning behind this is, you haven't even worked in the new year to deserve any time off to rest or relax. </div> <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"> <a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Sb4nOomRZCM/Vh7WmmbgbkI/AAAAAAAADPc/cR4ID2yEsao/s1600/dubai-shopping-festival.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Sb4nOomRZCM/Vh7WmmbgbkI/AAAAAAAADPc/cR4ID2yEsao/s1600/dubai-shopping-festival.jpg" /></a></div> <div style="text-align: justify;"> <br /></div> <div style="text-align: justify;"> But if you work in an organization that doesn't care too much about things of that sort (or maybe you work for yourself and can be flexible), then January is an amazing time to go to Dubai because of the annual Shopping Festival that holds that time of the year. It's literally sales in every store during this period...a shopaholic's heaven.</div> <div style="text-align: justify;"> <br /></div> <div style="text-align: justify;"> 2. <b>Tickets:</b> <a href="http://www.wakanow.com/" target="_blank">Wakanow</a> is a good option to buy tickets...however, I'd advise that you view the prices in Naira though, it's cheaper than viewing in dollars. Also, if you can pick a date and stick to it early enough, I would advise you to buy your tickets in advance...it's ALWAYS cheaper, you get to save as much as N50,000 to N75,000. On my last trip, I got my ticket at the last minute, like 3/4 days before so it was a lot more expensive at N181,000. My friend bought his at the same time, same airline, but his departure date was one month away and he paid N160,000. Imagine if you buy yours at least 2 months earlier? Alternatively, you can buy directly from the airline's website...then, you don't get to pay the extra that the travel agents would normally put on top of the regular prices.</div> <div style="text-align: justify;"> <br /></div> <div style="text-align: justify;"> 3. <b>Hotels:</b> I've always stayed at Avenue Hotel in Deira. It's comfortable and clean and it's worked for me...it's like 5 buildings away from the metro station and it's close to the Gold Souk and a 5 minute walk from Popeye's, Haagen Dazs, Baskin Robbins, McDonalds...you get my point. I'm sort of a creature of habit, and that's a bad thing but next time, I'm definitely staying somewhere else just so I can try out something new. There are other slightly more pricey with great standards like Double tree by Hilton, Holiday Inn, Four Points by Sheraton. I usually make direct reservations with the hotel but this last time I went through <a href="http://booking.com/" style="color: #1155cc;" target="_blank">booking.com</a> because I thought I got a good deal...N67,000 for 7 nights. Turned out, it was less taxes...so I ended up paying N98,000 at the hotel. Boo! I'd say, please don't use <a href="http://booking.com/" style="color: #1155cc;" target="_blank">booking.com</a> , instead contact the hotel directly. You can use Trip Advisor to get a feel of the kind of hotel you'd be interested in, then contact them directly.</div> <div style="text-align: justify;"> <br /></div> <div style="text-align: justify;"> 4. <b>Transportation: </b>I got a metro card on my first trip, now I use it whenever I go because it's a lot cheaper than Taxis. For instance, a trip to and fro the Dubai Mall from my hotel cost me about 70-100 dirhams depending on the traffic situation...but via metro, not more than 10 dirhams. At first, I thought 100 a day wasn't that bad, but I'd find myself making several trips and spending over 200 dirhams a day...then I knew I had to get a card. If you don't need to buy a card because you might never use it after your trip, you can always just buy tickets at the station. On my first trip, I was told I'd see people at the airport who will give me free tickets to the Burj Khalifa (At the top) Tour, Desert Safari and sometimes Wild Wadi. All I had to do was listen in on a seminar and at the end I'd get the free tickets. I never saw anyone at the airport, but I know 2 people who got free tickets.
